Quote of the month

What I always hated and detested and cursed above all things was this contentment, this healthiness and comfort, this carefully preserved optimism of the middle classes, this fat and prosperous brood of mediocrity. Herman Hesse.

Artist Statement

Words are not enough for me. I need images, I need to find beauty in the world and I need to express it. I need contrast; I need to escape from the cliché and common places. All that I have is my camera and my laptop. All that I need is a concept and the willingness to explore. I just want to suggest.

As an artist, my work is about the construction of identity and the exploration of modern times, pop culture and the influence of time. In my work I recreate narratives; it could be in an elaborated abstract digital composition or in a simple snapshot. There’s something oneiric in my images, they could be or could not be real. I don’t care. My photographs have a problem: they want to be something else. They want texture, they want to be paintings or installations and they want to interact with the world.

Words are not enough for me. I need images. But my images need words. They want to be under the power of the words, they want to be titled, but the titles also change with the time and are subverted. My photography is a kind of literature.

I also have a sense of humor.
